Alfred State's Chief Sustainability Officer presented on sustainability benchmarking with STARS data at the 2012 SUNY Sustainability Conference. Alfred State has also prepared and shared case studies of the Net Zero Energy Demonstration Home and the Alfred Community Garden through the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and the National Wildlife Federation's Campus Ecology Program.

Alfred State is an active participant in AASHE, the Northeast Campus Sustainability Consortium (NECSC), and the New York Coalition for Sustainability in Higher Education. We also collaborate with other SUNY schools around sustainability.

Alfred State's President is a member of the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) and its Chief Sustainability Officer is the chair of the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) Steering Committee. Additionally, the Chief Sustainability Officer has a monthly meeting with the sustainability coordinator at neighboring Alfred University.
