The University has a green building policy to achieve at least LEED silver design and construction standards in all new construction.
In building the new School of International Service (LEED Gold) the construction waste was monitored from the beginning of the project and carefully collected and sorted each step of the way. Whiting-Turner submitted monthly reports in the beginning and then quarterly reports as the construction waste lessened. It was a priority with them and with American University.
