A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

New Student Orientation includes the “Sun Devil Way” and covers the 3 pillars of the ASU Community: Achievement, Engagement and Responsibility, with an emphasis added to student’s responsibility regarding sustainability with “what we are doing” and what you can do” slides for sustainable practices. There are no printed handouts as everything needed is now included with an Orientation USB that is given to each student. Sustainability stand up banners, table tents messaging our Zero Waste program, signage for recycling and landfill bins are provided, and reusable tumblers were given out to about half of the sessions.
2. The transfer and international students were given the same electronic Orientation packet on the USB which includes ASU’s sustainability initiatives and “what you can do” flyer.
3. All of the graduate students were provided an opportunity to participate in a sustainability activity through the electronic USB, sustainability messaging was prominently displayed on stand-up banners and ASU reusable bags were given to each student.
4. TA Orientation (400 students), were given the electronic flyer (USB), a reusable ASU bag, and had the opportunity to “meet and greet” the Sustainability Practices student team to ask questions or sign up for events and activities messaging.
