A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:

The 2014 Auburn University Campus Travel Choices Survey was administered by Auburn University Facilities, Auburn University Office of Sustainability, and Auburn University Department of Civil Engineering. This survey was administered because of the lack of information regarding campus travel at Auburn University. The goal of the survey was to determine Auburn University students and employees campus travel on a daily basis. The reference week used to collect data was October 27, 2014 through October 31, 2014.
The Auburn University Campus Travel Choices Survey was administered from November 5, 2014 through November 13, 2014 by email. Respondents were screened for eligibility by only issuing surveys to participants over the age of 19. During this time period the survey was accessible through Qualtrics Survey Software. There were no major issues with survey and no follow up email as requested by Auburn University Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
The first section of the survey, Getting to and From Campus, was created to find out how the Auburn University student body and employees get to and from campus during a normal school week. The second section of the survey, Getting Around Campus, was developed to determine how students and employees get around campus on an average Wednesday during the school year. The third section of the survey, Improving Campus Travel, was produced to find out about students’ and employees’ involvement in transportation programs in the Auburn area. The fourth section of the survey, Travel Preferences, was created to determine participants’ motives when they decide what mode of transportation to take to and from campus. The fifth section of the survey, Traveler Information, was developed to find out sociodemographic composition of the participants taking this survey.
