Sustainability at Bellevue College

A brief description of the campaign(s):

Sustainability at Bellevue College is an ongoing campaign that seeks to encompass all aspects of sustainability on campus. The campaign utilizes the college's sustainability website, a newsletter, and tables at student orientations and events to educate.

As part of this overarching campaign, a campaign on composting was organized in October of 2011 when the campus began a pilot composting program. Due to large success from this program, the college has now implemented regular pre- and post-consumer composting for food waste.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):

As a result of the campaign, the campus went from zero tons of composting to a rate of 1.3 tons per month.
