A brief description of programs and strategies institution has implemented to ensure the code is followed, including a brief description of instances when vendor code of conduct has changed purchasing behavior within the last five years, if applicable:

Bellevue College follows Washington State mandated codes of conduct regarding bidding and purchasing procedures. This includes considering environmental costs and impacts in the bid evaluation criteria. Any social or environmental responsibilities we wish to follow are thus included in the wording of our RFP’s/RFQQ’s/Contracts. This allows us to choose from the lowest bidder while still maintaining a standard of social and environmental responsibility.

Specific programs or strategies that have been implemented as a result of this code include:
-Purchasing 100% recycled paper for our printers (per State mandate);
-Restrictions implemented on our Office Depot website (light bulbs/space heaters/etc.);
-A no inkjet printer and cartridge purchasing policy as a result of our Smart Printing Practices;
-A $25 minimum on Office Depot orders, which helps in reducing the number of deliveries by forcing departments to consolidate orders.
