A brief description of the institution’s participation in federal TRIO programs:

The TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO) program at Bellevue College provides academic and personal support to students with limited income, disabilities, or who are the first in their families to attend college.

The TRiO program furthers the Bellevue College mission of educational excellence and equal access by providing the following services:

-Study skills development
-Tutoring
-Academic and personal advising
-English language assistance
-Equipment lending program
-Scholarships
-Textbook lending library

Bellevue College offers scholarships and some tuition waivers to low-income students, including:

-WorkFirst TANF Tuition Assistance
-Work-study
-VA Educational benefits

Tuition waivers:
-General tuition waivers are offered for children of deceased or disabled law officers and firefighters; athletes; and veterans.
-Non-resident differentials are waived for: congressional dependents; refugees; distance learners; state employees; veterans of Korean Conflict; and National Guard

A brief description of the institution's scholarships for low-income students:

The Bellevue College Foundation offers a number of scholarships designed for students with significant financial need. For the 2011-2012 school year, the Foundation awarded 92 scholarships totaling nearly $140,000. In addition to scholarships awarded directly by the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee, the BC Foundation funds department-specific scholarships. Coupled together, the BC Foundation funded approximately $200,000 in financial assistance to BC students in the 2011-2012 school year.
