A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:

Black Hills State University strives to achieve the highest level of sustainable custodial practices. Custodians use microfiber towels first and, when necessary, supplement with 100% recycled Green Seal certified paper towels. The primary cleaning product is 3M Neutral Cleaner which is also Green Seal certified. Hard surface floors (with the exception of athletic surfaces) are cleaned by TENNANT T3, T5, and T7 cleaning scrubbers. These products utilize the ec-H2O technology using no chemicals, just water. The use of these products results in 80% of all campus cleaning products recognized as Green Seal certified.
