The City of Calgary serves 1.2 million people who call the third largest municipality in Canada home. With an excellent quality of life, low taxes, proximity to nature and cleanliness, 40,000 new people arrive each year from across Canada and the world, making Calgary one of the most liveable cities on the planet.

The City of Calgary is located right across the street from the College. Have a question about your taxes? Need a permit? Or perhaps you want to go see a City Council session. Just head over to City Hall, grab a coffee from the Good Earth, and take it all in, especially the decorations during Stampede.

The City of Calgary Waste & Recycling Services provides resources and information for our four-stream waste diversion program. The Transportation & Planning department provides cycling maps and stickers that we hand out to staff and students.

The Calgary Chamber acts on behalf of the business community in Calgary, advocating all levels of government to implement the policies needed to ensure Calgary is a great place to do business. The Chambers does whatever it takes to make its members' business more successful.

The Chamber is one of the many groups we work with to ensure we have good ties to industry. This helps us to hear about industry needs, so that we can make sure we have relevant programs, and that we are producing the graduates that the local economy needs.

A brief description of the institution’s other community partnerships to advance sustainability:

Bow Valley College works very closely with several environmental non-profits to supplement and support our sustainability training and communications: The Arusha Centre and Green Calgary Association. A local not-for-profit association for locally owned businesses (REAP) is working closely with us as we develop our sustainable procurement policies and procedures.
