Vision 2020: The Strategic Revolution of Education at Bow Valley College was released in 2011 and was developed through one of the largest community-based engagement initiatives ever held by a post-secondary institution in Canada. It has five major goal areas. The fifth, 'Capacity for the Future', lists "Environmental stewardship: Model and teach for a sustainable future" as one of its six strategies (p.23)

Bow Valley College's Comprehensive Institutional Plan (2017-2020) addresses sustainability by highlighting the following initiatives: "promote fiscal prudence and sustainability" (p.22), "manage enrollment to promote sustainability" (p.13), "develop and implement an Indigenization strategy" (p.16), and embeded Environmental Sustainability as a Learning Outcome (p.53).

Diversity is identified as a main pillar in the Vision 2020 Strategic Plan and a core value in the 2017-2017 Comprehensive Institutional Plan. Specifically, diversity objectives include "Advancing the International strategy" (p.14), "Review international student enrollment" (p.14), "Increase student mobility and international student learning opportunities" (p.14), "Secure international development projects" (p.14), "Determine and implement Diversity Achievement Plan" (p.16), "Indigenize curriculum with initial focus on Health and Wellness and Community Studies" (p.16), and "Understand Indigenous culture and history" (p.17).
