Does the institution have programs in place to protect and/or create wildlife habitat on institution-owned land?:
Yes

A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:

The University does protect wildlife habitat in the wetlands as far as wetlands regulations require and has taken the opportunity to do so elsewhere when possible. To minimize the flow of contaminants in wetlands and thus threatening the native species, Brandeis has installed dug basins along the side of the road that give additional wetland area. The basins are now being used by numerous species of aquatic insects such as dragonflies and damselflies as well as a population of green frogs. However, the credit requires there to be a formal program, which does not exist; thus, credit was not given.
