A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives, including how workers are engaged in monitoring and advising on health and safety programs:
Workplace health and safety initiatives are implemented based on best practices and in compliance with the California Code of Regulations (CCR) ,Title 8, Section 3202 as well as other applicable California and Federal Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) requirements, and executive orders/directives from the campus administration and/or chancellor’s office. These programs include, but are not limited to, the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Hazardous Communication Program and Office Ergonomics. RM/EHOS is responsible for the campus Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and is charged with communicating with employees on matters concerning safety and health, identifying, evaluating and mitigating workplace hazards, implementing procedures for injury and illness investigation and employee training. Workers are engaged through the Campus Wide Health and Safety Committee which consists of employee representatives from all bargaining units, management representatives from RM/EHOS and HR.
