CSULB staff, faculty and students regularly attend and present at regional and national sustainability conferences. CSULB representitives presented on Best Practice award winning initiatives/projects at the 2015 California Higher Education Sustainability Conference (CHESC), including the campus Water Action Plan, the Liberal Arts 2, 3 and 4 renovation project, the Molecular Life Science and Chemistry Lab HVAC controls retrofit project. Faculty members who collaborated on a white paper entitled "Sustainability: our campus as a living lab" also presented their findings at the conference. Also in 2015, student leaders presented on CSULB's award winning, student-led composting program "Trash Talkers" at the Association for College Unions International conference. At CHESC 2017, staff presented on the campuses' first Net Zero Energy building as well as on the strategy of utilizing events as vehicles for building community partnerships and fostering a culture of sustainability. CSULB faculty also gave a presentation at the 2017 conference on the topic of operationalizing the Resilience Commitment in the first year.

In 2015, CSULB was awarded three best practice awards at the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference for our campus Water Action Plan, the Liberal Arts 2, 3 and 4 renovation project, the Molecular Life Science and Chemistry Lab HVAC controls retrofit project.

The CSU Chancellor's Office coordinates monthly conference calls and quarterly meetings for CSU Sustainability Officers from the 23 campuses in the system, during which best practices are shared and CSU-specific sustainability policies and initiatives are discussed. CSULB's Sustainability Officer takes advantages of these opportunities to connect with and learn from other Sustainability Officers within the CSU system. She is also a member of the Southern California Sustainability Officers' group, which is open to all higher education institutions in SoCal (including community colleges) and meets approximately every quarter at a different participating institution's campus. Additionally, the Energy Managers from across the CSU system meet 3 - 4 times per year and attend the bi-annual CSU Facilities Management Conference where sustainability is an ever present theme.
