CSU Monterey Bay does offer the SUMMER FLEX PROGRAM which,
subject to operational program needs and the MPP supervisor's approval, non-exempt staff may request the option of working an alternative work schedule during eight designated weeks in the Summer Flex period of June 5 through August 6, 2011.

SUMMER FLEX PROGRAM PARAMETERS
Subject to operational program needs and the MPP supervisor's approval, non-exempt staff may request the option of working an alternative work schedule during eight designated weeks in the Summer Flex period of June 5 through August 6, 2011.

Division/department management is responsible for determining whether or not participation in the Summer Flex Program is feasible. All departments across the university must provide operational coverage five days a week and ensure services are available during regular working hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Managers may determine that an alternative work schedule is not feasible for particular departments due to operational timelines, projects, and needs. This program is not available for exempt employees.
There may be a fiscal impact on participating departments and/or employees if a Summer Flex schedule is approved. Please review the attached "Impact of the Summer Flex Schedule" to help you make an informed decision.
EXCLUDED WEEK
The week of July 3 - July 9 will be a "regular" workweek; alternative (Summer Flex) schedules will not be observed. On Monday, July 4th the campus is closed in observation of Independence Day. Regular work schedules will be observed for the remaining four work days in that week (with the exception of sworn officers in Unit 8).
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN SUMMER FLEX
If the MPP supervisor approves participation in Summer Flex, the employee must fill out a "Summer 2011 Work Schedule Designation" form (attached), obtain the appropriate MPP signature and submit it to Human Resources (attn: Laura Tantillo) no later than Friday, June 10, 2010. This form will be placed in the employee's personnel file.
REPORTING HOURS WORKED
All State employees participating in Summer Flex will need to report all scheduled hours on the "Irregular work schedule" row on the Absence & Additional Time Worked Report (Form 634) for June, July and August. Further instructions are available on page 2 of Form 634. It is the responsibility of the employee and the MPP supervisor to assure that all time is accurately recorded.
LEAVE REPORTING DURING SUMMER FLEX
Sick days: Sick Leave will be charged for all hours absent from the employee's scheduled hours that day (e.g. If an employee is scheduled to work a ten-hour day and is absent due to illness, ten hours will be deducted from accrued sick leave.)

Vacation days: Vacation Leave will be charged for all hours absent from the employee's scheduled hours that day. (e.g. If an employee is scheduled to work a ten-hour day and is absent due to vacation, ten hours will be deducted from accrued vacation leave.)
TRAINING AVAILABLE
All non-exempt employees interested in Summer Flex, along with their managers and department payroll contacts/timekeepers, are strongly encouraged to attend the time reporting training session on:
