A brief description of when and why the workplace health and safety baseline was adopted:

Adopted by the Campus Sustainability Committee to mirror the 3 year time-frame of STARS recognition.


A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives:

Health and Safety Initiatives: Injury prevention through providing skillport safety training (both mandatory and non-mandatory) in self-paced online format, with a focus on use of a computer desk ergonomic assessment tool, chemical and laboratory safety, bio-safety, heat related illness prevention and other educational resources and alternatives. Increased promotion of "who to contact" and how through the Service Communication Form, email or phone (either 911, non emergency or EMHS offices) hazard communication, spill reporting and injury reporting. Continued meetings of the Public Safety Committee which is another way to keep represented groups involved and connected with employee prevention, communicating concerns and reporting hazards and incidents. In-person presentations at all New Employee orientations sets the tone for the IIPP, educational resources, prevention and connection.
