A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:

English as a Second Language is a comprehensive program offered by the college to help non-English speakers achieve their goals in speaking, reading, writing, listening, and learning the English language.

Whatever the native language, students learn English in a relaxed, encouraging class with excellent teachers. All classes are free. They are offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings at Central Carolina Community College locations in Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties, as well as on Saturday mornings in Lee County.

As an English as a Second Language learner, students are placed in a class with those of similar skill levels in English. The six levels of ESL/English Literacy are: Beginning Literacy, Low Beginning, High Beginning, Low Intermediate, High Intermediate, and Advanced. You are sure to find one that is a comfortable fit.

In addition to general English skills, the ESL program also includes classes for U.S. citizenship and English in the workplace.

There is an Hispanic Student Scholarship Grant awarded to the Foundation. It's targeted towards Hispanic students enrolled in AA/AS degrees.
