In conjunction with the Newark Campus Grounds department, staff members from Central Ohio Technical College and Ohio State Newark post and maintain as many as a dozen bluebird nest boxes, annually.

In addition to the bluebird nest boxes, there are two ponds, located in the academic quad, that are home to fish, ducks and turtles, and, there is a natural waterway diversion ditch that runs north to south along the eastern side of campus that is also home to fish, ducks and turtles.
