A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:

The Newark Campus (The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College) is actively engaged in local community support. Two local organizations in which the Newark Campus staff and students participate are: Habitat for Humanity-Collegiate Challenge (HFH) and The Human Service Committee (THSC). This participation encompasses a broad range of activities including a variety of environmental and sustainability-related projects.

Habitat For Humanity-Collegiate Challenge (HFH):
The Newark campus participates in the nationwide alternative spring break program coordinated by the Campus Chapters and Youth programs department of Habitat for Humanity International. Collegiate Challenge began as an alternative spring break program. It has expanded into a year-round program. Student groups are placed with participating Habitat for Humanity affiliates depending on group requests and site availability

Human Service Committee, The (THSC):
The Human Service Committee is a group of Central Ohio Technical College and Ohio State Newark students who have a desire to help the local community. The group organizes volunteer events, plans fundraisers and helps raise awareness about social issues throughout local social services agencies.
