Does the institution's physical campus plan include sustainability at a high level?:
Yes

A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:

The Cleveland State University Master Plan is based on four principles for the University's future development: Connect, Collaborate, Complement, Conserve.

"Connect" creates functional and visual links to the city of Cleveland, enhancing the dense downtown urban environment; promoting responsible and sustainable planning principles; enhancing pedestrian access; and creating additional transit stops and Transit Oriented Development.

"Complement" improves the character of campus spaces, enhacing social aspects such as security and comfort as well as developing a variety of active greenspaces and gathering places including green roofs, rain gardens, and a proposed pavilion to house the farmers market held on campus.

"Conserve" preserves and enhances existing assets and the environment, including rehabilitating historic buildings; encouraging alternate modes of travel through well-designed bicycle, transit and pedestrian facilities in order to reduce parking demand; adding retail and residential development; and adding a linked network of green spaces and streetscape improvements.

Additionally, the General Guidelines for University Facilities contained in the Master Plan requires adherence to LEED Silver or better standards for new construction and details standards for environmentally friendly building materials and equipment, lighting and ventilation, energy conservation, recycling and water usage.
