A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives, including how workers are engaged in monitoring and advising on health and safety programs:

CSU's Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) works in close cooperation with all safety and security personnel and the University Administration to develop policies and procedures to promote a safe and healthy workplace while encouraging proactive stewardship of the environment.

EHS also collaborates with Facilities Management and the Office of the University Architect to ensure maintenance, renovation and construction projects and activities are performed in a safe and compliant manner.

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety facilitates periodic training for all employees. They have developed a twelve-month training program which is based on twelve topics per year. This year's topics include the following:

1. Safe lifting/back safety
2. Slips/trips/falls
3. Confined Space
4. LOTO/Electrical/Arc Flash
5. Safety Hazard Recognition
6. Forklift Training
7. Asbestos training awareness
8. Radiation training refresher
9. Training PPE/ Hand Protection
10. Hearing Protection
11. Hazard Communication
12. Ladder safety

In addition, the EHS General Safely Committee meets every two months and brings together a broad range of stakeholders to discuss a variety of campus safety issues. Members have the opportunity to report back to the group and to advise on health and safety programs.
