Columbia is not a member of the Tree Campus USA program, the University has partnered with the MillionTrees NYC program.
MillionTreesNYC is a citywide, public-private program with an ambitious goal: to plant and care for one million new trees across the City's five boroughs by 2017. As of 2012, over 500,000 million trees have been planted. Columbia tracks tree health, plants trees and also maintains trees that the city has planted on and near campus.
The CUMC campus also participates in MillionTreesNYC. Currently there are active plantings occurring at 3-4 spots around campus. The campus is also in the process of developing a campus beautification plan, which includes the addition of trees and green space around the campus.
