Yes

A brief description of the snow and ice removal program, policy, or practice:

Snow is primarily pushed and brushed versus chemically treated. First snow is removed then brushed, by immediately responding at the first sign of snow, it reduces the amount of ice melt used. Columbia Morningside does not use salt as it is too harsh and rough on the environment and dogs feet. The campus also only plows what needs to be plowed, in some areas just paths are made and not everything is plowed. CUMC currently employs a combination of shovels and mechanical plowing to remove ice and snow from public passageways. The upcoming winter season will also explore the use of Green Scapes Ice Melt for a more environmentally friendly ice melting process. Salt use is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and snow packs, once plowed, are located in drainage areas that will not overflow surrounding areas.
