Does the institution use xeriscape landscaping techniques, including the selection of drought tolerant plants?:
Yes

A brief description of the program or practice:

Grasses used on the Morningside campus grounds include perennial ryegrasses, creeping bentgrass, annual bluegrass and creeping red fescue – mostly cool season turf. Over watering leaches nutrients, while underwatering stresses the plant, which then becomes drought intolerant. CUMC’s current landscaping techniques incorporate a low to medium level of water needs, but we are in the process of transitioning to more drought-tolerant plants and those more adaptive to the climate.
