Does the institution make cultural competence trainings and activities available to all employees?:
Yes

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

Concordia College offers multiple cultural competence trainings and activities for all employees, faculty, and staff throughout the year.

Cultural Activities:
Concordia's Cultural Events Office sponsors several major events on campus, including the annual Faith, Reason and World Affairs Symposium, as well as helping to promote additional Arts and Humanities events including art exhibits, lectures, the Concordia Christmas Concert, National Book Awards and more. These events are available for Concordia's employees, in which they have the opportunity to engage in discussion with other employees and students on cultural topics. Cultural events are supported in part by the late Stanley and Dorothy Kresge, Minnesota State Arts Board, the North Dakota Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Competence trainings:
The Safe Space initiative seeks to make the Concordia College campus a safer and freer environment for all members of our community regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Safe Space members pledge to be confidential, non-judgmental and supportive contacts for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ) members of the Concordia College community. The Safe Space Initiative also strives to educate the campus community about the initiative. Safe Space trainings open to all faculty and staff and are held multiple times per year, in addition to Safe Space lunches, over which a variety of topics relevant to LGBTQ issues are discussed.
