Dalhousie has documents, infrastructure and programs that support active transportation and cycling as a means of commuting. Dalhousie has worked with local hospitals (IWK and Capital Health) and Saint Mary’s University to develop an Institutional Cycling Master Plan. There is a protected bike lane pilot program running along University Avenue across Dalhousie's Studley and Carleton campuses. Buildings have end of trip facilities, such as lockers and showers, and there are over 1050 bike parking spots on Dalhousie campuses combined. Dalhousie offers a bike free loan program to all students staff and faculty with bike repair stations around campus.
