Does the institution include sustainability prominently in new student orientation?:
Yes

A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:

Summers 2010 & 2011 The orientation staff wears uniforms that are as eco-friendly as possible. This means that the track jackets are made out of 90% recyclable materials and the t-shirts are made with organic cotton. Although it is impossible to tell that the t-shirts are made from organic cotton, the track jackets prominently display a 90% recyclable symbol on the sleeve. Over 4,000 students, including incoming freshmen and transfer students, were exposed to the orientation staff.

Summers 2010 & 2011 Orientation folders were made out of recyclable materials and used soy ink. Over 4,000 students, including freshmen and transfer students, received these folders. Additionally, each student was given a USB drive to store materials on so that the University could produce less paper products for each orientation.

Summers 2010 & 2011 All incoming freshmen students participated in Orientation Leader-led, small group discussions about sustainability and its relationship to the Vincentian Mission. Approximately 2, 450 incoming freshmen participated in the small group discussions.

Approximately 2, 450 incoming freshmen and 1,550 transfer students attend new student orientation on an annual basis. The orientation staff consists of 24 student orientation leaders, 3 orientation student coordinators, 1 graduate intern, and 6 professional staff.
