A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction:

DePaul University conducts three recurring surveys that allow for anonymous feedback on measures of employee satisfaction. The surveys are conducted institution‐wide.

I.The Faculty and Staff Climate Survey

•Administered every other year (2005, 2007, and 2009)
•Surveyed Population: All full-time and part-time faculty and staff

•A five point scale was used with higher points indicating more agreement / satisfaction

•Background and purpose:
The survey was first administered in 2005 in preparation for the North Central Accreditation visit. The instrument was crafted with input from Staff and Faculty Councils, Human Resources, and the Offices of the President, Mission & Values, and Institutional Diversity. The purpose of the survey is to measure employee satisfaction, the attitudinal climate of the university, with regard to 10 themes:
• Customer Service
• University/Mission
• Diversity
• Policies and Procedures
• Training and Professional Development
• Collegiality
• Leadership
• Academic Mission
• Staff Support
• Governance

II. The Human Resources Service Survey (administered in 2005 and 2010)
•Administered every fifth year (2005 and 2010)
•Surveyed Population: all managerial employees (faculty and staff)

•Background and purpose:

The survey developed by Human Resources was first administered in 2005. The purpose of the survey is to measure managerial satisfaction with HR support and service with regard to 5 themes:
• HR General
• Customer Service
• Policy Clarity
• HR Communications
• Hr Website

III.Total Rewards and Benefits Satisfaction Survey
•Administered periodically: 2006 (Benefits Survey) and 2010 (Total Rewards Survey – Benefits and Compensation)
•This description will focus on the 2006 since the 2010 survey is currently in progress
•Surveyed Population: all benefits-eligible employees (faculty and staff)

The survey developed by Human Resources in conjunction with the University Benefits and Compensation Committee (UBCC), which is comprised of faculty and staff representatives, was first administered in 2006. The purpose of the survey is to measure managerial satisfaction with HR support and service with regard to 6 themes:
• Satisfaction with Benefits
• Satisfaction and Issues with Benefits Administration
• Benefits Utilization
• Benefits Communications
• Importance of Specific Benefits
• Additional Benefits Desired
