The Diversity Aspiration Statement emphasizes our efforts as a learning community “to create social justice” and “to treat all humans with respect, honoring human dignity.”

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion affirms and supports these aspirations by initiating intercultural communication, providing training and workshops and bringing diverse speakers and groups to campus.

The Diversity Progress Committee (DPC) is charged with assessing and monitoring progress on our aspirations.

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for cultural competence training and activities for students and has recently begun making these offerings available to faculty and staff. These activities include knowledge and skill-based sessions for student leaders addressing topics that include race, sexual orientation and social class. Over this coming year, this will be expanded to include individuals with disabilities and will evaluate broadly training that is best for the community.
