Does the institution compost or mulch waste from grounds keeping, including grass trimmings?:
A brief description of the composting or mulching program:
The ETSU Grounds Maintenance Department utilizes selected green waste created from the care of the lawns, landscape and trees on campus to create compost/mulch. This includes chipped/shaded tree limbs, shrub trimmings and leaves. Through a cooperative effort with the City of Johnson City, ETSU takes all brush to the city for chipping and distribution. All campus leaves are chopped and composted on campus. After the items have decomposed to a satisfactory state, they are utilized on campus as mulch/compost.
