The President's Council on Cultural Diversity's mission is to promote a campus environment where all people are treated with dignity and respect, to promote an environment that encourages cross-cultural understanding, nurturing, respect and celebration, provide an environment that supports and empowers under-represented groups and individuals, and to strengthen the understanding of cultural diversity through education.
The Equity & Diversity Team holds meetings with the purpose of allowing the many facets on campus that support diversity to come together and update the team about program happenings, needs and concerns. These meetings help the members/offices on campus complement and become involved in events sponsored by the various components represented on the team.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:

The person who holds the postion of diversity coordinator is responsible to the University President for providing guidance and compliance in all matters relating to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action; providing leadership in campus wide diversity; promoting non-discriminatory practices throughout all areas and levels of the campus community; monitoring and coordinating the Access and Diversity programs; and performing other related duties as assigned. The person in this position monitors the search process from the Ad stage to the Hire. She is responsible for resolution of equal opportunity and affirmative action or sexual harassment complaints and grievances filed by employees, applicants for employment or students. She serves on University President's Senior Staff and President's Council, University Planning Committee, President's Council on Cultural Diversity and other university committees as required.
