A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, bills, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

ETSU as part of the Tennessee Board of Regent System, has been actively involved in developing, promoting, and advocating sustainability related issues, legislation, and policies. Bill Rasnick, Associate Vice President for ETSU Facilities Management,was actively involved in developing RFP for statewide 5 year energy savings contracts which resulted in over $1,262,688 of annual energy savings projects at ETSU with equal savings at other institutions. In addition, ETSU was involved in the development of the Tennessee Board of Regents Sustainable Building Design Guidelines which govern all new buildings and renovations at TRB institutions. These guidelines are equivalent to LEED silver.
