A brief summary of the climate plan’s long-term goals:

EICCD has developed a Climate Action Plan as a requirement of the ACUPCC. This public document can be found at www.presidentsclimatecommitment.org, as well as on our institutional website(listed below). EICCD has committed to becoming climate neutral by 2035. EICCD will progress towards climate neutrality through a reduction in energy demand and usage, a reduction in emissions from staff and student commuting, programs to provide our students, staff, and local community with a basic knowledge of sustainability issues, and through an operational philosophy which considers the economic, social, and enviornmental impacts of our decisions.

A brief summary of the climate plan’s short-term goals:

EICCD will initially concentrate on reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions related to purchased electricity and natural gas through projects to reduce energy demand, conserve and use energy efficiently, and make use of renewable energy resources. EICCD will strive to reduce energy usage by 2% per year for the next 10 years, for a total energy usage reduction of 20% by 2020.
EICCD will also strategize to reduce emissions resulting from faculty, staff, and student commuting to our campuses. EICCD is committed to the use of sustainable technology and practice whenever possible within our insitutional operations, and stipulates sustaianbility as a consideration in all of our purchasing and service contracts.
