Green Crew Energy Walk - Oct. 20, 2015

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

In effort to gain a clear commitment to a carbon neutral future by EKU President Michael Benson, the EKU Office of Sustainability and student sustainability organization "Green Crew" collaborated to lead an educational walking tour to discuss the state of carbon and energy efficiency of several buildings on campus with University leadership, staff, and students.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

As a result of cross campus promotion, approximately 60 students, faculty, and staff members, including senior administration, attended the walk. EKU President Benson signed the Second Nature Climate Commitment at the end of the event commencing EKU's formalized climate action planning and commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.

#EKU Local Festival - Sept. 22, 2016

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):

The #EKULocal Festival showcased local and sustainable goods and services available on campus to students, employees, and community members. The Festival also hosted the Madison County Farmers Market, a food truck, live music, and educational activities.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Over 25 venders and 200 guests attended the event and learned more about the importance of buying local in regards to sustainability. An increased visibility to the Office of Sustainability was achieved enabling it to have a farther reach in subsequent events.

The Office of Sustainability coordinates several events throughout each academic year to boost sustainability literacy and engagement on and off campus.
