Has the institution assessed attitudes about diversity and equity on campus in a way that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of the assessment(s):

In the fall of 2013 EMU President's Cabinet introduced, with authorization from the Board of Trustees, what is being called "the Listening Process", an open, campus-wide discussion on proposed changes to the University's hiring policy that would allow the hiring of openly gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered faculty and staff members. EMU is very closely connected to the Mennonite Church, a Christian sect, that is itself still undecided about the role GLBTQ individuals have in church membership and in church leadership. One of the two Mennonite seminaries in the US is a part of EMU, adding to the weight and consequence of the Board's decision at the end of the process in June 2014.

The initial assessment tool is a survey that is being emailed to the entire campus community, alumni and constituent bodies at the end of the month.

Year the assessment was last administered:
2,014

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

The results of the survey and ensuing campus conversation will directly shape hiring policy at EMU.
