The staff Green Team consists of staff volunteers working to effect positive change in support of sustainability efforts on Emerson’s campus. “Green Team” leaders collaborate to plan professional development activities and events to aide in meeting our greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals.
Emerson Green Team leaders are expected to dedicate 4 hours per month to Green Team initiatives, education and outreach.

2. Educational brown bag lunches
3. Film screening
4. Zero-waste event planning
5. Lunch walk/run to the esplanade or Mindfulness sessions
6. Earth Day celebrations

A brief description of how the employee educators are selected:

The program is advertised at staff events and in staff news. The program is open to all staff and individual staff self nominate.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:

Team members attend a sustainability info session and meet-and-greet each fall before the school year begins. The info session includes greenhouse gas emissions benchmarking and sustainable strategic planning. Each building forms its own Green Team with staff members from that building.
Building Teams are provided with emissions information for their buildings and are encouraged to set goals to lower these emissions and improve sustainability literacy in their offices. Building Teams meet regularly (some monthly, some quarterly) to move forward with their goals.

And example of an initiative was a week long "Think Before You Throw" film series screening event in the staff faculty dining center during 2018 RecycleMania. The event was promoted by the Green Team and members encouraged their office peers to attend.

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):

The team is supported by two staff co-chairs and one advisor (Sustainability Coordinator). Green Team members can apply for funding for events and activities through the Sustainability Coordinator.
