Does the institution have a program to encourage student sustainability research that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage student research in sustainability:

Student Research and Innovation Day is an annual event that allows students to showcase truly innovative projects that they have created independently, in-class or as a part of a capstone project. Incentive to develop research projects comes in the form of prizes in many categories. Many of the projects are sustainability-related or focused, especially in the technology category. Through the Centre for Sustainable Energy and Environments (CSEE), faculty members who receive project funding often involve students in their research by offering course credit for projects related to the research, and also through co-op terms that are often paid. This gives students further incentive to become involved in sustainability research.

Yes

A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage faculty research in sustainability:

The Centre for Sustainable Energy and Environment (CSEE), funded by an NSERC grant, gives incentive to faculty to do sustainability research. Funding and often release time are provided. Fanshawe College also has internal funds in the form of the Research Innovation Fund. Projects that have been undertaken and are in progress today include: solar powered utility vehicles, solar generation optimization, solar shading/windows, solar array efficiency study, UHEAT - integration of renewable energy technologies, sustainable design/building for agri-tourism, harbour lands redevelopment, and evaluating strengths and durability of beams and slabs. The Centre for Research and Innovation has as one of its principles "Contribute to improved environmental, health and quality of life factors in our community". Funding through this centre is therefore often applied to sustainability projects, giving faculty incentive.
