A brief description of the institution's Tree Campus USA program:

NOTE: this program is US based and there is no Canadian Counterpart, however, Fanshawe College does follow guidelines very similar to those set out in the Tree Campus USA program.

All trees are managed by the horticulture program and are cared for by Horticulture Technician students on summer co-op (we hire 10 of our students) in addition to some classes of arboriculture pruning some of the trees in their practicals. We currently allot $5000 annually for new tree plantings and are part of the Reforest London million tree challenge. See this website for more information: http://reforestlondon.ca/million-tree-challenge

All of our plantings are labeled, tours take place with various community groups each year and the plants become part of the courses on plant identification. Our website promotes suitable species and offers candid opinions of problematic species: www.canadaplants.ca
