Showers and changing rooms are provided in multiple areas to encourage
bicycling to campus. Covered bicycle storage is available to students in housing.

There are numerous bike racks throughout the campus including covered parking in some of the residential facilities.

The Pedal Power Bike program is a bike share system in place to decrease traffic congestion, limit carbon emissions and encourage health and physical exercise at FGCU and the surrounding community. Bike Sharing is practiced all over the country in many different settings and the Pedal Power program is FGCU’s commitment to incorporate these initiatives into campus life. The program allows students to check out a bike and helmet free of charge for up to a week.
Campus Recreation manages the program. During the 2016-17 academic year, we had 10 bikes available for rent, and 177 total rentals and we had a total of 115 people who were entered on the waiting list with a 3-5 day turnover over the course of the year.

Shuttles only operate during the Fall and Spring Terms
On campus housing shuttles operate any day that classes are in session during the Fall and Spring semesters, from 7:00am-10:00pm. The shuttles operate continuously approximately every 15 minutes. North shuttle operates from McTarnaghan Hall to each laundry room in North Lake Village. South shuttle operates from the front of Palmetto Hall to McTarnaghan Hall. By request, a stop will be made at the Music/Arts loop. Return route to south housing includes a stop at the Music/Arts loop and return to Palmetto Hall.
West Lake Village shuttle operates Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 10:00pm. The shuttle will pick-up at the circle in front of the WLV office, at the top and bottom of the hour. The last shuttle leaving WLV with riders will be at 9:00pm. Return trips will be from the Student Plaza, and will leave at :15 and :45 past each hour.

In addition to free shuttles provided by Gulf Coast Town Center and FGCU. Lee County public transit’s Lee Tran Busses offer discounted rates for students. Per trip cash fare is normally $1.50 and with student discount it is $0.75 for Lee Tran bus transportation.

Wheeli is a carpool matching system designed to assist students in finding ride sharing partners. Wheeli connects students with cars and student passengers looking for rides. Students split driving costs automatically and easily through the app.

The service is free of charge faculty, staff, and students of FGCU.

Students at FGCU can rent a car by the hour, daily, or overnight through Zipcar. Students that live on campus are encouraged to use this as a way to get around instead of bringing a car to campus during summer orientation sessions. There are 2 available cars. One is parked outside the Cohen Center and the other is parked in South Village. Membership has steadily increased since the program’s inception and grew by 65% in FY 16-17. There are 253 members to date and on average 25 unique members per month book a reservation.
