A brief summary of papers, guides, presentations, and other resources the institution has developed to share their sustainability experience with other institutions:

In Spring 2013, FIU hosted the Educational Alliance for a Sustainable Florida annual roundtable. Sustainability Coordinators from higher education institutions in Florida attended for professional development opportunities, networking and collaboration.


The names of local, state, regional, national, and other campus sustainability organizations or consortia in which the institution participates and/or is a member:

Florida International University is a member of the Educational Alliance for a Sustainable Florida (EASF). EASF serves as a hub of post-secondary sustainability efforts enabling professionals to share best practices, tackle challenges and expand their efforts through facilities, curricula and campus and student engagement activities. One sustainability professional is designated at each institution to be the representative, any higher education institution in Florida is welcome to EASF. The members of EASF hold monthly phone meeting to share best practices. Once a year, the members hold a round-table meeting for professional development and discussion on EASF structure for the upcoming year.

Other organizations that FIU participates with to advance sustainability are the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Environmental Education Providers (EEP) of Miami, the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).


A brief summary of additional ways the institution collaborates with other campuses to advance sustainability :

Besides collaborating with the institutions who are members of the EASF, FIU is also currently constructing a collaborative campus, the Pines Center. It is a collaboration between FIU and Broward College (both EASF members). Once it is open there are plans to collaborate with Broward College sustainability and FIU Office of University Sustainability on sustainability programs.
