A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years:

Frostburg State University is committed to increasing sustainability focused and sustainability related courses on campus. Several resources are available to faculty who seek to develop new sustainability courses. Over the past three years, some faculty have used "Opportunity Grants" from the FSU Foundation to develop new sustainability courses. Others have used funding from the "President's Experiential Learning Enhancement Fund" to develop sustainability courses. This, along with the use of regularly budgeted departmental funds, have led to the development of 3 new Sustainability Studies Courses and 6 new or revised sustainability related courses.

In 2016, funds from a student sustainability fee became available for the first time. In addition to other sustainability projects on campus, faculty can seek funding from this fund. In the first round of competition, 12 awards were made to faculty, students and staff. Curriculum development or enrichment was a part of at least 4 grants.

Faculty member are encouraged to seek support for curriculum development work if needed. In additional to the competitive grants funds mentioned above, faculty members can seek support from the Sustainability Studies Steering Committee, the Dean of the College, and the Faculty Development Subcommittee. All have supported faculty development work. Conference travel grants and reassigned time grants have both been used for such curriculum development work.
