The Appalachian Center for Ethnobotanical Studies (ACES) was established in 2002 as a partnership between Frostburg State University, West Virginia University, the University of Maryland Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research, and the Tai Sophia Institute. It was formed as a collaborative, inter-institutional effort devoted to the multidisciplinary study and conservation of native plants of Appalachia. While no longer active, valuable research and plant monographs were generated by the collaboration. This site offers an archive of those materials for public use.
