The President's Advisory Council for Sustainability (PACS), in conjunction with Student Government Association, Student Sierra Club and other individuals and groups proposed, ushered through approval, and has begun to implement a student sustainability fee of $30 per student per year, the overall process which includes a grant program that funds student initiated sustainability projects. PACS also works with Learning Green Living Green (LGLG) to put on Focus Frostburg every year during Earth Week, a campus wide day of presentations, events, films, speakers and activities for increased sustainability of the campus and community. The Safety and Sustainability Officer has also promoted all these efforts, and he has also led an initiative to develop a power purchase agreement and solar array development project.

A brief description of each sustainability office:

The Sustainability Office resides in the Physical Plant Department and consists of one person who has the title of Safety and Sustainability Coordinator. This office covers recycling, sits on the President's Advisory Council for Sustainability (PACS), assists with the LGLG Sustainability Committee and helps organize the meetings, is also responsible for reporting, and sustainability initiatives. This person also has safety, occupational health, fire safety, gas line safety and environmental duties including all reporting, training and compliance assistance as well as other duties. The second person reports to the one above and takes care of physically collection all the recycling material from across campus. We also have a 1/2 time Sustainability Liaison who teaches one class per semester in our Sustainability Studies Program and Sustainability Minor, and he also works on sustainability projects for the campus and community.

The Safety and Sustainability coordinatror is located in the Physical Plant. This position covers recycling, chairs the LGLG Sustainability Committee at large and chairs the LGLG Executive committee and organizes the meetings, is also responsible for reporting, and sustainability initiatives. The Sustainability coordinator is to serve as an ambassador for climate and habitat awareness, promoting initiatives that will ultimately improve the quality of life for all individuals and species.
• Look for opportunities for boosting student recruitment and retention, and opportunities to explore external funding for sustainability.
This person also has safety, occupational health, fire safety, gas line safety and environmental duties including all reporting, training and compliance assistance as well as other duties.
