Sustainability at George Brown College
Welcome to George Brown College’s Green Pages on-line.
This site includes information about the College’s Green Plan and initiatives to adopt sustainable practices in our operations and facilities and to integrate the principles of sustainable development into curriculum, applied research and community forums.
It includes a summary of the College’s ongoing Green Team work to reduce our ecological footprint and includes resources that can be used by members of the College community to contribute to these greening efforts.

Our cafeteria food services managers makes available a number of brochures and flyers related to nutrition, wellness and sustainability. Some examples include info about the Roasters Fair Trade Organic Certified Coffee, info about reducing food waste and the carbon footprint associated with waste food, shifting to vegetarian meal choices and vegetable based diets, conserving water and recycling.
As well, a number menu specific signage, posters and "Nutrigrams" are available in hard copy and on-line related to seasonal event and menus. For example, in the Fall there is a focus on eating local and fresh, focusing on apples and other harvest veggies.

As part of the Green Team’s efforts to reduce the College’s transportation carbon footprint, we want to actively support energy efficient modes of transportation such as public transit, bicycle commuting, and carpooling.
The following resources will inform you of ways to choose a more sustainable mode of transportation that is healthier and better for the planet. -- It also offers you a chance to save time and money, while reducing stress, traffic congestion and pollution.
