"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include all Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions?:
Yes

Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include all Scope 3 GHG emissions from any of the following categories?:
Yes or No
Business travel No
Commuting No
Purchased goods and services No
Capital goods No
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 No
Waste generated in operations No

Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from other categories?:
No

A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:

Tracking of natural gas and electricity consumption is carried out on a monthly basis by Facilities Management Department and reported annually through the Ontario College's Facilities Managers Association and the Ontario Ministry of Environment.

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the internal and/or external verification process:

As part of Ontario's Green Energy Act Regulation 397/11 all public institutions, including Colleges, are required to report annually through the Ministry of Environment on their energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and to publish 5-year Energy Management and Conservation Plans. The Annual energy consumption must also be published on the College's website and intranet site as well as be made available to the public in printed
form.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions::
Performance Year Baseline Year
Scope 1 GHG emissions from stationary combustion 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Scope 1 GHG emissions from other sources 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Scope 2 GHG emissions from purchased electricity 2,422 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 4,270 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Scope 2 GHG emissions from other sources 4,192 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 3,703 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Figures needed to determine total carbon offsets::

A brief description of the purchased carbon offsets, including third party verifier(s) and contract timeframes:

Electricity consumption is purchased from Bullfrog Power for the Chefs House Restaurant (215 King St. East) since 2012; annual consumption is approximately 550,000 kWh and the contract is renewed annually.

Electricity consumption at the Waterfront Campus (51 Dockside Drive) is purchased from Renewable Energy Choice (Boulder, CO). Approximate annual consumption: 5,200,000 kWh

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”::
Performance Year Baseline Year

Number of residential employees 0 0
Number of in-patient hospital beds 0 0
Full-time equivalent enrollment 39,517 27,318
Full-time equivalent of employees 1,278 1,000
Full-time equivalent of distance education students 0 0

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Start Date End Date
Performance Year April 1, 2012 March 31, 2013
Baseline Year April 1, 2006 March 31, 2007

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

Greenhouse emissions tracking was started by the College as part of its Green Plan Phase 1 initiative beginning with historical tracking in the fiscal year of 2006-07. This baseline formed the foundation against which the College's Green Plan I goals and subsequent green Plan 2 goals were set.
