The staff employee survey administered every two years includes questions related to diversity, climate and respect.

Yes

A brief description of the student diversity and educational equity assessment(s):

Academic Excellence recently just completed a large research study which looks at the diversity of students in programs across the college. The college mission statement has diversity and respect as one of its key areas of focus


Has the institution assessed employee diversity and employment equity?:
Yes

A brief description of the employee diversity and employment equity assessment(s):

An annual report is provided to the Senior Administration of the college on employment equity progress including annual statistics, training, systemic concerns. This shapes College policy and program initiatives, e.g., where we need to focus our training, where we need to work with managers and faculty more in terms of systemic based issues that become apparent via the annual reports such as training, policy work, hiring re: employment equity etc.

In addition, A volunteer Employment Equity (EE) survey is given to all new full time hires at the college. Statistics are provided yearly so the college can see how we are doing in terms of our hiring within the EE groups re: women, racial minorities, persons with disabilities, aboriginal persons.

The college mission statement has diversity and respect as one of its key areas of focus. One of the core values of George Brown College is the dedication to diversity and respect, ensuring that as a College community we show mutual respect for each other within the
community of GBC, including all of our stakeholders, in all our behaviour. This assurance to a college culture of inclusion is necessary in fostering a rich learning and working
environment. As one of the most diverse colleges in Canada, George Brown College is dedicated to
promoting an equitable environment for students and employees and opportunities for
members of the community to have access to and participate in all aspects of college life. 
Moreover, the College attempts at all times to ensure that its Board of Governors is diverse in terms of public engagement.
