The Council (www.thecouncil.on.ca) is the bargaining agent for the 24 Ontario colleges in negotiating collective agreements with unionized staff who are members of the Ontario Public Servants Employees Union (www.opseu.org)

Academic Employees/Full-Time and Partial-Load Employees:
The Colleges Collective Bargaining Act, 2008, designates the Council as the bargaining agent for Ontario’s colleges in negotiation with the union (OPSEU) representing academic employees within the colleges.

Working with The Council (see above) In addition, the Council provides a variety of services for the college system such as advice on human resource issues, collective agreement administration, benefits administration and research. The Council provides research services to an external body, which reviews and recommends to college boards the terms and conditions of employment and compensation for presidents and administrative staff.

The lowest starting hourly rate for full time staff is $18.14 plus benefits.

The lowest starting hourly rate for full time staff is $15.00 plus limited benefits.
