Mason's Office of Sustainability has been involved in orientation in various ways in the past few years. It has trained orientation leaders about sustainability efforts on campus; trained resident advisors about sustainability programs that their residents could participate in; attended orientation dinners for all incoming freshman and transfer students to promote sustainability programs and organizations; staffed a table during Welcome Week for freshmen and transfer students; and will provide University 100 classes with a sustainability module. Also, every year Mason’s student media group publishes Freshman Focus, which is handed out during orientation and offers a look into how previous freshman have been involved on campus. The FY18 issue highlighted multiple ways to get involved in sustainability on campus.
