George Mason University has several sustainability focused and related certificate programs through Learning Solutions, the continuing education department. Examples include the Sustainability Facility Professional Credential Program, which focuses on improving facility professional’s understanding of tools to enhance sustainability practices in their organization. Another is a Professional Certificate in Conservation Practice, which is taught by Smithsonian conservation experts at the training facility in Front Royal Virginia. This non-credit certificate supports conservation professionals to gain the skills needed to help meet today’s biodiversity conservation needs.
The Sustainability Facility Professional Certificate Program started in 2011, the Geographic Information Systems Certificate Program started in 1999, the Applied Conservation Science Certificate Program started in 2008, and the Permaculture Design Certification Course started in 2012.
