Mason has committed to designing and constructing buildings that meet, at the minimum, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards or the Virginia Energy Conservation and Environmental Standards. Within LEED, there are credits associated with construction and demolition waste diversion which the university tracks. The numbers listed above are for projects within the last three years. The disposal and tracking of construction and demolition waste are the responsibility of the contractors.

The data above was collected for three LEED buildings, certified in the last three years: Exploratory Hall, Ike's, and Taylor Hall.
