3. Identify and catalogue existing funded research that address gender and racial/ethnic diversity in STEM;
4. Develop strategies to promote collaborations and multidisciplinary initiatives that leverage existing and potential efforts to address broadly the agenda of gender and diversity equity in STEM.

A brief description of the diversity office:

The Office of the Vice President Institute Diversity (VPID) provides Institute leadership to establish priorities, policies, and programs that support our mission as a leading technological university in the 21st century. The VPID works with the executive leadership team of the Institute to ensure that we recruit, develop, retain and engage a diverse cadre of students, faculty, and staff with a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, interest and talents who will contribute to our mission and vision. The VPID also works with campus leaders to ensure that our core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion are embedded in equal opportunity and non-discrimination practices. A strong partnership with the Offices of Human Resources, Legal Affairs, and the Division of Student Affairs ensures our compliance with all federal and state laws regarding Equal Opportunity, Title IX, and The Americans with Disabilities Act.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:

Dr. Ervin’s overarching operational responsibility as Vice President is to provide Institute level leadership and oversight for Georgia Tech’s diversity, equity and inclusion agendas. The Vice President for Institute Diversity is a member of the President’s Cabinet where he helps to set institutional priorities, policies, programs and initiatives to enhance gender, racial, ethnic and social diversity in its faculty, staff and student communities. The Vice President for Institute Diversity (VPID) oversees the Georgia Tech ADVANCE Professorships that seek to transform and enhance gender diversity in the faculty and the Center for Women, Science and Technology, headed by three senior faculties, which links the study of science and technology to those of gender, culture and society. The VPID Office is also responsible for OMED Education Services and the Office for Hispanic Initiatives; two support units that address academic transition and academic success (retention and graduation) for women, historically underserved and low populations.
